64 R Relay
The Type 64 relay is a hot structure / ground structure unit. The relay has a main function for protecting equipment enclosures as well as delivering advanced alerts to personnel. The overall goal of the relay protects equipment in hot structure conditions within DC switchgear. With reliable electronics on board, the high resistance relay provides a superior level of performance and safety with ongoing operational reliability. The rugged construction as well as the self-diagnostic features eliminate common errors and ensure that readings can be extremely accurate.
The Type 64 relay offers a visual and alarm-based output for its alert system as well as a DC switchgear structure. When the rectifier becomes grounded through a breach in the insulation, the alarm and the visual cues will sound. The voltage sensing trip will pass by grounding or the self-diagnostic feature will determine that an internal fault has occurred. All of these scenarios will sound the alarm and deliver alerts to personnel.
The final alarm that the relay can exert comes when there is a leakage or fault between structures and bus. This is called a hot structure fault and it can also result in a lockout as part of the monitoring system.
Output on this device is typically connected to lockout relay is to ensure that alarms will sound in the lockout will occur automatically. With an automatic shut off for the entire station, DC and AC leakages and faults can be detected quickly by the device to create a ground structure. A series of set points for ground structure annunciation and a hot structure trip are available on the device.
For convenience, there is a ground structure annunciation, hot structure trips as well as test buttons that can be used on the front panel to control lockout conditions and provide ongoing testing features. In the event that a lockout or fault condition does not occur with the device, the relay can provide an ongoing readout barring that the voltage does not exceed 800 VDC. 600 VAC superimpose will also trip the readout on the device.
As an extremely durable device, the 64 relay is capable of operating in temperatures of up to -20°C and up to 55°C. The operation of this device and its structure alarms can be widely beneficial to preventing issues with trains, locomotives, and rolling stock.
With a construction that is designed to reduce faults as well as transient surge protection, we worked at building one of the most reliable relays on the market. The LED meter is designed to be extremely easy to read in a variety of lighting conditions and the internal power supply can auto compensate for a wide range of DC inputs. We were striving for mass compatibility and reliability. Internal time delays also prevent nuisance tripping as an added improvement over other models.
We are constantly innovating with the newest technology within our company. It’s our goal to make sure that we can offer the best level of power output monitoring and safety controls to prevent major issues when required.
